nope, looks like some of it was a nasty via facebook and the rest was from MSN messenger I think. Looks suspiciously like someone had installed some rogue software that goes with MSN.

I use MSN and havent *rushes off to touch wood and her toes* had any troubles with MSN!

well must admit I only talk to three people on there and thats it! But I havent had any probs so far with it!!

So what did you think to the HHT then?

I don't suppose you know what it was do you??

I ask as I know that some apps on there do appear to have virus's as a lot have been complaining about them.

It's a file that gets sent by other infected computers Mike and it comes under the guise of a video file.
The nasties she'd managed to accumulate meant that the antivirus software woudlnt' connect to do updates, some antispyware woudln't update or download either. Malwarebytes got rid of most of it, and Asquared also (both appearing to find different things). And I coudln't do anything until I'd discovered which 9 letter file with random name it had installed into system32 folder

And once a computer is infected, it goes onto download other carp too.
Messenger plus also used to download carp similar to what I found - so never use that as it installs spyware (or used to).

Another problem is the kids are using limewire all the time.
Trojan city....

As for the apps on facebook, I've often wondered how secure they are as you "play with a friend" which presumably means some sort of connectivity going on?

As for viruses and spyware ........... why not run your browser in a sandbox? Or, better still, install a complete Virtual PC which will leave your original operating system untouchable.

MS Virtual PC ......... http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/

Also, other operating systems can be run on virtual pc's (Linux, Mac, FreeBSD, Windows 98,ME,2000,XP,Vista and 7!).
